An exciting and challenging opportunity exists to become part of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Strategic Leadership Team, leading the Service's People Directorate in the role of Director of People. The SFRS protects one of the largest geographical areas of any Fire and Rescue Service with over 350 Community Fire Stations and corporate locations across Scotland. We manage a diverse range of risks, from urban cities to remote and rural island locations. Our Corporate Services teams, including our People Directorate, provide the enabling, professional services that support front line delivery. We are looking for an outstanding, visionary and progressive leader with extensive experience operating in large, complex organisations, delivering excellence, leading change and driving improvement. You will possess the skills and aptitude to provide strategic direction to the Service as we continue to evolve and improve, ensuring the safe, effective and sustainable delivery of Fire and Rescue Services to the Communities of Scotland. Operating within a complex and challenging environment, you will work collaboratively with Scottish Government, the Board, the Chief Officer and the wider Senior Leadership Team and other key national and local stakeholders; making a significant contribution to deliver best value, formulate and drive forward innovation, effect change and deliver continuous improvement strategies to meet SFRS strategic aims and objectives. You will play a strategic role in leading the evolution of the SFRS People Directorate and Function, leading by example and demonstrating our values of safety, teamwork, respect and innovation. Applicants must currently operate at a strategic level, be able to provide strong evidence of strategic achievements and possess exceptional commercial acumen and outstanding leadership & stakeholder engagement skills. Applicants are also required to have a relevant Master's level degree or demonstrate experiential equivalency. The successful applicant will be based at SFRS Headquarters in Cambuslang and must be able to travel extensively across Scotland on a regular basis and to other parts of the UK when required.
