Director of Property and Estate Management based at Epworth House, Derby Salary - Competitive (Hybrid Working) About the Role We are seeking a skilled Director of Property and Estate Management to join our team here at MHA. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a property portfolio including over 70 Care Homes, over 50 Retirement Living Schemes and other buildings including our Head Office. This is an exciting new role which will see this person provide strategic vision and leadership for the review and transformation of the organisation's land and property portfolio to ensure that it enables efficient and effective delivery of services to meet the needs of our customers; delivers maximum capital and financial benefits and optimum social and community value. Purpose Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working in conjunction with the Executive Leadership Team and key stakeholders, this is an exciting new role which will see the Director of Property and Estate Management provide strategic and operational leadership to support the delivery of safe and high-quality services relating to the built environment for MHA residents, members, colleagues, and visitors across all the various sites. The new Director of Property and Estate Management will work with key internal and external stakeholders, providing strategic direction relating to the development and optimisation of the estate and its facilities across the whole of the charity's property portfolio. Responsible for overseeing the management of all aspects of the property portfolio and its related resources to provide a safe and quality physical support environment. This will include Estates Operations including the Estates Helpdesk, Soft and Hard Facilities Management Services, Statutory Maintenance Compliance Works, Maintenance Capital Works, Construction Commercial Management, and the Planning and Reporting thereof, Technical Services, Asset Management, Construction Health & Safety, Acquisitions/Disposals and in due course Estates Construction Development and the development and improvements to the charity's ESG credentials. As a member of the MHA Executive Leadership Team, the new Director will contribute to the development and implementation of the charity's organisational strategy and business plan and will share responsibility for the achievement of the organisation's objectives. About you The ideal candidate will bring substantial previous experience as a Head of or Director of Estates or Property. You will be a well-experienced strategic and tactical thinker with the ability and attitude as well as the technical knowledge and experience to become hands-on when required. You will be strong commercially and will likely come from a commercial construction/FM or non-housing background and you will have a degree or similar level qualification in a construction or property-related discipline such as Estate Management, Facilities Management, Construction, Development or Chartered Surveying alongside 15-20 years plus experience at management level. You could come from any sector (private or public) and you will either know about or have a strong desire to learn about the care sector and in particular the 3rd sector.
