This state-of-the-art property will combine Marriott’s global reputation for service excellence with the vibrant energy of Sheffield. Featuring modern guest rooms, a stylish bar and restaurant, and exceptional meeting spaces, this hotel is set to become a hub for business and leisure travellers alike. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role driving sales and business growth for this flagship property. The

Director of Sales

will be instrumental in establishing the Courtyard by Marriott Sheffield’s reputation as the premier choice for leisure and corporate travellers, as well as securing significant revenue streams. Key responsibilities:

Develop and execute the hotel’s sales strategy

to achieve revenue goals across all market segments, including corporate, leisure, group, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events).

Build and maintain strong relationships with

key accounts, travel agencies, corporate clients, and community partners

to maximize revenue opportunities.

Identify new business opportunities

and proactively secure new clients, expanding the hotel’s reach in the competitive Sheffield market.

Work closely with the Sales & Marketing teams at Head Office to develop and implement effective

promotional campaigns and sales initiatives.

Lead and mentor the sales team , setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and providing regular coaching and development opportunities.

Collaborate with the General Manager and revenue management team to ensure

pricing strategies and packages

are competitive and aligned with market trends.

Attend

networking events, trade shows, and industry conferences

to promote the hotel and secure business leads.

Oversee the preparation of

detailed sales reports , analyzing data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

Actively manage

guest feedback and satisfaction

in relation to the sales experience, ensuring service excellence from enquiry to event execution.

Represent the hotel in the local business community, building strong relationships to enhance the property’s profile and drive bookings.

Manage and negotiate contracts

with clients and partners, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements that drive long-term business.

Support pre-opening activities, including the recruitment and training of the sales team, establishing sales processes, and implementing Marriott’s brand standards.

About You

Proven experience in a senior sales role, such as Director of Sales, Sales Manager, or Business Development Manager, ideally within a branded hotel environment.

Strong network and knowledge of the corporate, leisure, and MICE markets , with a proven ability to secure new business.

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to

inspire, motivate, and drive a high-performing sales team.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Results-driven mindset

with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.

Strong commercial acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management.

Proficiency in using CRM systems and sales tools; familiarity with Marriott’s systems is advantageous but not essential.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive and flexible approach to new challenges.

Knowledge of the Sheffield market is a plus, but not essential.
