An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Directorate Support Manager within the Anaesthetics, Critical Care, Theatres and Trauma and Orthopaedic (ACTTO) Directorate. We are looking for a confident, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team based at the Princess of Wales Hospital. Reporting to the Service Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the management of services across Anaesthetics, Theatres and Pre-Assessment. The post holder will have well developed knowledge and experience of health care services and operational delivery in a managerial role. The role will act as a conduit between all surgical specialties and anaesthetics to improve theatre efficiency, service delivery and patient experience. Candidates with experience of rota management and theatre scheduling will be welcomed. Responsible for the day to day management of administration and clerical staff, the successful candidate will have experience of managing people and challenging situations and be an excellent communicator. Main duties of the job

The Directorate Support Manager will have delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities, with a focus on the following: Management of anaesthetic rotas and administrative staff Lead the operational management of theatre scheduling with booking teams and clinicians Confidently challenge inefficiencies giving context and support of analytical data Create and maintain strong working relationships with clinical, administrative & managerial colleagues Produce high level reports to present to clinical and senior management teams Evaluate existing pathways and processes to identify, lead and develop areas to improve Engage with all surgical specialties to identify tailored approaches to address and improve inefficiencies Promote good practices and standardise ways of working Devote a patient focused approach to all aspects of this role About us

Qualifications and Knowledge

Educated to Degree Level in relevant subject, plus Master's Degree in relevant subject or possess equivalent skills, knowledge and experience. Management Qualification or appropriate experience in a management role within the NHS. Significant expertise in service administration. Knowledge of targets and waiting lists. Knowledge of Myrddin/WPAS/WCCIS/FACE IT systems. Experience

Experience of developing business processes and reporting systems. Experience of performance management reporting within an NHS/Social Service environment and delivering targets within strict timescales. Experience of translating complex information and presenting in a range of formats. Skills and attributes

Able to prioritise, solve problems and make decisions effectively but who can also delegate to others as appropriate. Excellent leadership skills. Standard keyboard skills and familiar with Microsoft Office and NHS/LA IT systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of partners. Ability to lead a team and foster effective team working across services and organisations. A pro-active manager with the ability to manage change efficiently and effectively. Ability to influence, negotiate with, and motivate senior managers and clinicians to assist in the development of forward thinking and joint working. Other role requirements

Ability to travel to different sites in a timely manner. Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards achieving this level. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
