What makes Goldsmiths unique? Goldsmiths is a world-renowned university that has a reputation for rigorous and innovative academic work; creativity has long been our hallmark. Academic excellence and imaginative course content combine to make a place where creative minds can thrive. About the Department Student Support Services sit within the Student and Academic Services and comprise the Disability, Wellbeing, Counselling, Advice, Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and Accommodation Services. Student Support Services provide advice and support to students throughout their journey at Goldsmiths. Student Support Services work alongside, and in support of, Goldsmiths academic departments and all other professional services, to enable every student to thrive at Goldsmiths, and to make sure they can engage with the College, the wider community and their peers. About the Role The role is key in supporting our disabled students, including those with specific learning difficulties and mental health conditions and ensuring they have full access to all academic activities, professional services and opportunities offered at Goldsmiths. The post-holder will assess individual students’ disability-related needs for support and reasonable adjustments effectively, create plans of support and check on their implementation. They will be key in connecting students with external funding (such as the Disabled Students Allowance) for that support or in ensuring that the support is nonetheless available when students do not have access to external resources. A familiarity with the Equality Act and its implications on the delivery of our services and courses is essential to this role. The role also requires liaising and working collaboratively with academic and professional departments across the institution. About the Candidate To fill this role, the candidate will need detailed knowledge of a range of disabilities and of the support available. They must be able to demonstrate an understanding of, and empathy for the needs of a unique, diverse and international student community, whilst ensuring that the support/adjustments can be shown to be reasonable and enable students to meet academic milestones. The role-holder will be an excellent team player, reliable and a good communicator. They will need to be flexible, responsive and pro-active in their approach. They will need to show a constant

commitment
