An exciting opportunity is now available within Academic Services for a Disability Inclusion Adviser to deliver support to students who require intervention or support to make the most of every learning opportunity. Working as part of our Disability Inclusion team, the primary focus of this role will be the provision of one-to-one and small group non-urgent high-quality interventions and case-co-ordination for students who are experiencing challenges that may impact their success or wellbeing. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and compassionate individual with significant demonstrable experience of supporting and advocating for adults or young adults. The post holder will be part of our first-response duty team. They will also maintain a caseload of students while offering single session or short-term interventions to address a range of presenting needs, which may include medical conditions, disability, pregnancy, estrangement, financial hardship, and neurodivergent conditions. The post holder will have the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of students, particularly those who have significant, co-occurring, and/or complex needs and those from underrepresented groups. A sound understanding of the factors impacting student success and wellbeing, alongside the ability to deliver evidence-based interventions for a range of wellbeing needs to a diverse range of students, is critical. Knowledge or experience of working with students within a higher education setting is advantageous. The post holder must be able to assess needs and plan, deliver, and evaluate interventions with clear goals and outcomes that meet the holistic needs of the student. We are seeking individuals with a professional qualification or evidence of relevant training and experience in the field of disability, specific learning differences, and/or neurodivergence. Excellent communication skills, a high level of motivation and adaptability, a compassionate and proactive approach, and a willingness to work collaboratively with others are essential for this post.
