Distribution Director Peterborough

– multi-site UK operations, travel required. Excellent salary package on offer including generous annual bonus potential, company car, healthcare and pension provision. We are seeking an experienced Distribution Director to lead and oversee the multi-site distribution and operational functions of a highly respected, market leading business with significant opportunity for continued growth. With responsibility for c200 employees, this pivotal role reports to the Managing Director and will influence business strategy whilst ensuring the highest levels of customer service, operational improvements and efficiencies, budget and cost control, and effective stakeholder collaboration are achieved. Key Responsibilities : Leadership: Lead and develop a diverse team, including six direct reports, ensuring high performance and engagement. Operations Excellence: Manage distribution systems and processes, driving customer experience excellence, operational efficiencies, and continuous improvement projects. Property Management: Oversee company-owned and leased properties, including maintenance, negotiations, and site development. Fleet Oversight: Manage the company’s distribution vehicles, ensuring compliance and cost control. Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HSE and other regulatory standards. Strategic Contribution: Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to align operational initiatives with broader business strategy and profitability. Budgeting: Plan, manage, and control operational budgets effectively. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders. About You : Proven track record in senior operational roles within customer centric UK multi-site distribution or logistics. Experience within a regulated sector is desirable. Exceptional leadership skills, with experience managing and developing large, dispersed teams. Collaborative, consultative and inclusive leadership style with effective change management and project delivery experience. Continuous improvement mindset and data-driven, with the emotional intelligence and gravitas to influence and build strong long-term relationships. Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and change management. Excellent communication skills, capable of inspiring teams and collaborating effectively with stakeholders. Expertise in property management and fleet oversight is beneficial. Strong understanding and prioritisation of Health & Safety and regulatory compliance.
