Proactive Global currently is searching for an experienced Distribution Manager for a manufacturing organisation based in London.

Salary for this role: £45k- £50k

Location: London

Role Overview: The Distribution Manager is responsible for ensuring the right quantities of raw materials and finished goods are in the right place at the right time and transported to where they are needed in the most cost-effective way possible.

The role will involve the line management of a small team of Distribution Coordinators at the Company HQ in London and functional management involvement in global warehouses and support functions at locations in the UK, USA, France, Singapore, and China.

Principle Responsibilities: Your role will be managing your team to ensure that raw materials and finished products flow efficiently and securely through the company's external and internal supply chain, balancing timely delivery with cost efficiency. Particularly, the key duties of the role are: Ensuring conformity to the freight budget by achieving best freight rates and ensuring the most efficient transportation modes are used. Developing, implementing and managing strategies to guarantee inbound and outbound shipments are sent and received to schedule. Working with suppliers and the technical team to ensure optimal packaging and labelling of goods for efficient transport. Ensuring systems are in place so shipments rapidly clear customs formalities. Ensuring supply chain and warehouse security. Troubleshooting logistical issues as they occur, including managing marine insurance claims and poor courier and forwarder performance. Overseeing the generation of the Raw Materials Forecast and Make to Stock list for finished products. Cooperating with Planning, Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse and Product Management to develop further strategies and processes to avoid stock outs and overstock to enable optimisation of shipment sizes and ensuring suitable warehousing space for requirements.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree MSC in Supply Chain Management preferred.

Specific Knowledge and Skills: The ideal candidate will be expected to possess the following knowledge and skills: Extensive distribution or logistics experience, including international trade. A deep understanding of the commercial elements of the role such as trends in freight pricing, working capital, contractual arrangements and negotiation techniques. Management and commercial decision-making experience. Computer literate with extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP (SAP, Oracle etc.). Strong report writing, data analysis and presentation skills.

Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate will be expected to possess the following personal attributes: A keen sense of commercial priorities to enable proper balancing of the demands of on-time delivery with cost saving. A determined character with the ability to cooperate successfully to achieve their commercial objectives. Good management skills, both in line and functionally, to enable them to get the most out of colleagues whether in their team or the wider business. An informed decision maker who is alive to the importance of their role and the key part information and the sharing of information plays within it. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills to communicate their ideas to the wide variety of partners they encounter within the role.
