This has culminated in the establishment of a new Growth and Development Unit, who lead growth and development work across Council. This is one of three current vacancies being recruited for. We are looking for a Growth Data Analyst, to join our Growth and Development Unit. Planning for sustainable housing and industry is a key component of supporting the Hastings District’s living standards and wellbeing, with deep social, economic, environmental, and fiscal implications. Joining our team will see you working in a collaborative environment where your skills will help shape a cross-Council effort to plan for, monitor and respond to the housing, industry and urban growth needs as detailed in the Future Development Strategy, Strategies, Structure Plans and other initiatives. This role will use available and source new data, to draw insights that can be used to inform or amend actionable strategies (including the FDS), plans and decision making, ensuring we continue to have a sound, efficient and effective approach to managing the district’s growth and development. You will be required to work collaboratively across the Council and with partner organisations, so the ability to work with people will be essential. You will enjoy using a range of tools and techniques to interrogate different datasets, and will be required to spend a significant amount of time analysing information and trends related to residential, industrial and commercial supply and capacity, amongst others. The purpose of this position is to harness the power of data to provide insights to form the required evidence base for Council’s growth and development program. Working closely with the Principal Advisor District Development, wider Growth and Development Unit and across Council. Ōu wheako To be successful in this role you will have: Tertiary Level Qualification and/or three plus years’ experience in applied mathematics (statistics), economics, urban planning, or related fields. Experience in research, data analysis, trend analysis, data modelling and sensitivity analysis in an urban planning / development context. A good understanding of urban development processes and activities would be advantageous. Experience in converting complex data sets and trend analysis into easily digestible information which can be understood by a wide range of audiences. Outstanding communication and research skills. Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with a strong interest in investigating datasets, trends and drivers. The ability to work collaboratively with, and across, a diverse range of people, professions and communities. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships both within your home organisation and with key contacts from other organisations. This role is part of the Growth and Development Group.
