Your new role at NewDay

NewDay has used our 20+ years of experience to build a cloud-native and configurable technology platform, which will be powering both our existing credit products, as well as those of new partners in the future. Our business moves at pace, and we're looking for a Technology Risk Business Partner within our 2nd line Risk team to work with our Platforms business as they develop our technology stack, enter new partnerships and launch products onto the market. The candidate will be a champion for good risk and control practices encouraging compliance, resilience and security by design whilst promoting a risk-conscious culture.

What You'll Deliver
  1. Architecting and Enhancing Core Platform Components: Design and implement scalable, cloud-native solutions for critical components such as Ledger management, Statement generation, and Interest Calculation to ensure high performance and reliability.
  2. Driving Cloud-Native Architecture: Ensure the platform leverages cloud-native patterns and technologies to achieve scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  3. Collaborating Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations, to deliver features that align with business goals and customer needs.
  4. Streamlining Development and Delivery: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation to support rapid, reliable delivery of platform updates and new features.

What You'll Bring:
  1. Proven Expertise in C#: Extensive experience in developing robust, scalable, and maintainable applications using C# and .NET Core.
  2. Azure Cloud Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Azure services, including Service Bus, CosmosDB, Azure Functions, and related cloud-native patterns.
  3. Event Sourcing & Domain-Driven Design: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Event Sourcing, Event-Driven Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design principles.
  4. CI/CD and GitHub Actions: Demonstrated ability to design, build, and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines, leveraging tools like GitHub Actions to automate testing, builds, and deployments.
  5. Comprehensive Testing Skills: Expertise in creating and executing component, integration, end-to-end (e2e), and contract tests to ensure software quality and system reliability.
  6. Agile Methodologies: Proven experience working in Agile environments to build and deliver software.
  7. Microservices Architecture: Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices-based systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and observability.
  8. Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to lead engineering teams, mentor developers, and drive best practices for coding, testing, and DevOps.
  9. Problem Solving & Decision Making: Adept at analysing complex systems, identifying potential issues, and implementing effective solutions in a collaborative environment.

We would love you to know or learn
  1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in Terraform, Pulumi, or similar IaC tools for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in a repeatable and secure manner.
