The SLAM Addictions Clinical Academic Group, and South London Partnership (SLP) have entered into an exciting and innovative collaboration to support the needs of those with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs on the six inpatient rehabilitation wards within the SLP footprint. Established in October 2022, the service and its ways of working are being co-produced with the SLP and each of the wards to ensure it is integrated into the model of care within each unit, creating a seamless service for the service user. It is expected that the service and inpatient rehabilitation staff, by working together, will create a team culture with consistent ways of working that will optimise the recovery outcomes of people with mental health and substance use needs. This post is fixed term until June 2025 and can be arranged as a secondment. Enquiries regarding the post ahead of application are most welcome. Main Duties of the Job

Working alongside nursing and psychology colleagues, the post holder will lead development and delivery of excellent care for people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders within inpatient rehabilitation wards; in line with national best practice guidance, NICE and DoH guidance and Trust policy. The post holder will also work with ward colleagues of all disciplines to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in working with people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders so that it is a core aspect of the work of all team members. They will promote understanding of the effect that substance use can have on inpatient care/treatment. The post holder will work with teams to maintain safe environments; minimising the use of substances on Trust premises and the harms that substances can have on service users, staff and visitors alike. The Post Holder will support the development of excellent relationships with partner agencies to promote effective collaborative working and seamless care pathways. Job Responsibilities

To provide a highly specialist nursing/substance use service to the mental health and substance use inpatient rehab service including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a safe environment. To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist in co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. To undertake service evaluation, audit and research. To work as an autonomous professional within the NMC code of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service. To agree outcomes/results with clinical/professional lead and to decide how they are best achieved. Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

A qualification in mental health nursing (RMN or part 13 of the NMC register), general nursing (RGN or part 12 or the NMC register) Professional registration with NMC Evidence of continuing professional development Mentorship/ENB998 or other Assessment and/or Teaching in Practice equivalent qualifications A qualification in a relevant area of practice Degree in nursing or relevant profession Non-Medical Prescriber Experience

Extensive post qualification experience of working with/managing a caseload of people with co-occurring mental health and substance misuse problems Working in busy challenging clinical setting and prioritising duties to maintain safety Liaison with a range of professionals and agencies Supporting the implementation of clinical practice improvement initiatives Working clinically within a substance misuse team Involvement in audit projects and research Knowledge / Skills and Abilities

Current MH, substance misuse policy and best practice guidance and legislation Understanding of and commitment to principles of equal opportunity, fair access and service user empowerment Theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and the evidence base for the relevant treatment for people with co-occurring MH and substance use issues Using relevant tools and guidelines to facilitate comprehensive assessments, plan, implement and evaluate the care of individuals with complex needs Work collaboratively across teams and organisational boundaries Communicate skilfully and sensitively complex and sensitive information with service users, carers and colleagues Knowledge of relevant legislation Ability to facilitate therapeutic groups The ability to demonstrate and develop leadership skills Ability to deliver team teaching/training Disclosure and Barring Service Check

£54,320 to £60,981 a year per annum inclusive of HCAS
