Post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check: Yes Probationary period: 3 months To work under the guidance of the Wrexham Early Education team and the Setting Manager/Deputy Manager planning, implementing and evaluating high quality, flexible and innovative Early Education within the Full Day Care Provision. This will involve planning, observations, setting up activities and preparation of resources. The remaining hours will be spent in the Full Day Care setting with children between the ages of 2-11. Main duties and Responsibilities: To assist the Full Day Care Team to provide high quality child-centred care and learning opportunities for children aged 2 – 12 years Meet and greet children, establishing good relationships, acting as a positive role model and responding appropriately to their needs but also encouraging independence. Register the children, signing them in and out using the electronic system To participate in planning in order to provide a range of invitations to play designed to meet the individual and communal needs and interests of the children. To act as a key person for a group of children. To supervise and encourage positive, safe behaviour for children To conduct regular observations on children and assist in recording developmental progress To celebrate children’s work and display other relevant material in an effort to provide a pleasant physical environment that promotes the ethos of the setting. To ensure the premises remain clean, tidy, safe and secure. Join in with activities and talk to the children, encouraging children to interact with others and engage in activities. Attend to the children's personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and wellbeing Prepare and provide appropriate nutritious snacks throughout all of the provisions and ensuring water is available at all times. Accompany younger children when toileting and encourage and supervise hand washing Record accidents/incidents correctly using the electronic system provided and inform all parties involved Supervise and support children, ensuring their safety when accessing activities by carrying out regular risk assessments Provide opportunities for children to play outdoors in all weathers • Ensure ratios are adhered to at all times Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children • To report concerns in regards to children’s development and progress. To promote and engage in effective, positive communication with children, colleagues, staff and parents. To comply with the Health and Safety policy and promote safe working practices To participate in regular staff meetings/events and training. To adhere to the setting’s policies and procedures. To support the Full Day Care Team with the implementation of a qualitative assurance scheme Work constructively as part of a team, understanding your roles and responsibilities within the setting. To undertake such other duties as are required and commensurate with the post Hours of work 35-40 hours per week between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
