Friday 21st February with interviews to be held week commencing 3rd March The Pre-school teaching assistant will work within the fantastic Early Years Department, under the direction of the Head of Early Years. The key responsibility of the practitioner will be to work successfully as part of a dedicated team, to provide a high standard of emotional, social and intellectual care for all children at Little Acorns Pre-school, whilst ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times. The candidate should be kind, caring and motivated, committed to the role within the department. They should be prepared to work in all weather conditions, within our garden, mud kitchen, extensive grounds and woodland environments, actively participating to enrich the children’s outdoor learning experiences – which is a vital part of our curriculum. Main purpose of the job: Contribute to a dynamic programme of activities that meets the individual needs and interests of our children and the Early Years Framework. Build strong working relationships within our setting and wider school community. Assist with ensuring that the learning environment is clean, tidy and safe at all times. Provide exceptional care of our children. Be committed to the safeguarding of all children in our setting. Become a Key worker of a group of children, in time. Specific Responsibilities and Requirements: Be flexible within the working practices of Early Years. Be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the department, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, etc. Record observations via Tapestry (training will be given). Work alongside the Head of EYFS and staff team to ensure that the philosophy of Boundary Oak School is fulfilled. Look upon the Early Years department as a ‘whole’, being constantly aware of the needs of the children. Respect the confidentiality of information received. Develop your role within the team. Ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and stages of development. Be aware of the high profile of the Early Years department and uphold its standards at all times. Duties and Responsibilities: Behaviour and Safety: Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, raising any concerns following school protocol/procedures, through the Line Manager. Help to establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for children, rooted in mutual respect. Manage children fairly, using approaches which are appropriate to their needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge, in line with the Early Years behaviour policy. Be a positive role model, with a ‘can do’ attitude. Team Working and Collaboration: Participate in any relevant meetings/professional development opportunities at the school, which relate to the learners, curriculum or organisation of the school. Work as a team member and identify opportunities for working with colleagues and sharing the development of effective practice with them. Take part as required in the review and development of the activities relating to the curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions of the school. Be prepared to be flexible, within the department, to suit the needs of the setting. Fulfil Wider Professional Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with others to develop effective professional relationships. Participate in and carry out any administrative and organisational tasks required. Complete Tapestry assessments with the support of colleagues. Be involved in assessing and reporting, in time. Be receptive to reflective practice. Actively participate in the appraisal process as defined by the school. Be responsible for improving your performance through participating fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school or as developed as an outcome of your appraisal. Other: Have professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school and maintain high standards in your own attendance and punctuality. Perform any reasonable duties and extracurricular activities as requested by the Head Teacher or the Head of EYFS. The successful candidate will: Hold a full and relevant Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification or higher. Have excellent references. Have experience with children ages 2-5 years old. Have a broad knowledge of the EYFS and be receptive to further development.
