King's Park Primary School is a non-denominational school that was built in 1903 and serves the Dalkeith community. The school is built next to King's Park and the children have access to this for leisure and to enrich their learning opportunities. The school has a roll of 494 children from P1- P7 and offers 94 full time ELC places. The roll is diverse and includes pupils from all 5 quintile data zones and this range is also reflected in each year group.

Our school consists of three buildings within the grounds. Our Junior building comprises of ELC-P3 learners, a library, Support for Learning classroom, learning hive and a dining hall. Our Senior building comprises of P4-7 learners, our School Office, a gym hall and Nurture Room. We have a temporary unit which currently hosts one of our P7 classes.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Early Years Practitioner to join our current team. They will demonstrate their ability to provide high quality interactions, experiences and spaces which are informed by the learner's interests. We strive to place dignity and respect at the centre of all our interactions to ensure the rights of the child are fully met. The successful candidates will work collaboratively to develop an engaging outdoor learning environment which promotes curiosity, enquiry and creativity. Demonstrating a commitment to developing positive parental partnerships and making effective local community links is desirable. Candidates who are nurturing, demonstrate inclusive practice and can positively contribute to GIRFEC are invited to apply for these posts.

KNOWLEDGE

Post holder must hold at least a practitioner level qualification, HNC Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 7; or SVQ Social Services (Children & Young people) at SCQF 7 or equivalents that meet the requirements for SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) registration e.g. SVQ 3 Child Care and Education SVQ 3 Early Years Care and Education SVQ Children's Care learning and Development SCQF 7 HNC Childcare and Education HNC Working with Children in Early Years HNC Early Education and Childcare (at SCQF level 7) Qualifications which were previously recognised for SNNEB/NNEB registration may be acceptable. An up to date first aid certificate is also required.

Job Advert Position Title: Early Years Practitioner Directorate: Children, Young People & Partnerships Location: King's Park Primary School Contract Status: Permanent Hours of Work: 29.6 (29 hours 26 minutes) Working Pattern: Mon-Wed 08:15-14:55 (30min break), Thurs 08:15-14:51 (30 min break), Fri 08:15-13:15 (no break) Weeks per year: 39 Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on you working 29.6 hours over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £21,443.97 per annum.

Requirements This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007.
