Job description Duties the nursery Early Years Practitioner will be required to carry out are: Adhering to the policies and procedures of Barrachnie Nursery and comply with the children Act, Health and Safety legislation, and within the guidelines of Care Inspectorate, SSSC and the National Standards. Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery. Working as part of a team. Being an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual. The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional, and intellectual needs. Working with the Team Leader on planning and preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents, and negotiating working targets (Learning Goals) ensuring effective communication within the nursery. Offering all children equal opportunities throughout the nursery setting in all nursery experiences. Keeping of development records and observations to support children’s development and enhance environments. Positive management of children’s behaviour. Preparation, care, cleanliness, and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment. Presenting as a good role model to staff and children. Once settled, you will embark on a mentorship role for new staff and Modern Apprentices. Keeping accident, incident, and risk assessment records. Supervision of meals and mealtimes and where appropriate preparation of baby’s bottles. Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Manager. Participating in regular parent’s evenings, open weekends, and children’s outings. Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager / Deputy. Further professional development through in-house training will be provided and potential opportunity to obtain higher education at degree level.
