The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours/session posts will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £17.04 - £18.45 This is a 52-week non-sessional post, meaning it will include working during the school holidays. This is a temporary maternity cover until 6th September 2025. Days and Hours of Work: Monday, 08:00-18:00 Tuesday, 12:30-18:00 Wednesday, 08:00-13:30 Thursday, 08:00-13:30 Friday, 12:30-16:30 To start ASAP. This is an exciting opportunity to work in our team temporarily to cover maternity leave. St Mary's RC Primary School is a vibrant, nurturing, and inclusive school community. We are a Roman Catholic School, serving the needs of Roman Catholic and non-denominational pupils in Haddington, with 5 mainstream classes and a nursery. Our school roll is currently 112, and our nursery roll is 80. St Mary's RC Primary School shares a joint campus with Haddington Primary School. We have our own music room, but share our gym hall and dinner hall. Working within the Council, we provide our staff with opportunities to develop their skills in-house. Relevant Qualifications You must be educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation in relation to Early Learning and Childcare. SSSC registration SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration within 3 months of your start date to ensure that you are registered within the required 6 months. PVG Membership This post is considered Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council. Please note: PVG member's records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises.
