Full time
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work in a brand new purpose-built Community Diagnostic Centre based in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

The Community Diagnostic Hub will have a dedicated cardiorespiratory department which will perform and report on diagnostic tests such as echocardiography, BP and Holter Monitors and lung function tests.

As a Band 7 Highly Specialized Physiologist, your predominant role will be to independently perform and report echocardiograms according to the BSE guidelines, providing high-level technical reports to the requesting medical teams. There will also be a requirement to act as a senior physiologist to other physiologists and cardiographers within the department.

All applicants will be expected to have BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent. HCPC registration or RCCP registration (or eligibility to join) is essential. Full BSE accreditation (or European equivalent) and evidence of greater than 6 months independent practice is also an essential criterion.

Main duties of the job

The Hinckley CDC is an extension of the Cardiac Investigations and Respiratory Departments of the University Hospitals of Leicester, and will be managed from these departments. As such, there will be a requirement to attend the UHL sites for training and audit purposes. Opportunities to maintain CPD will also be provided.

The Echo department of UHL is BSE accredited - an extension will be applied to include the CDC. The echo suite is purpose-built with ergonomic equipment and a full spec echo machine.

The cardiac physiology service at UHL performs over 20,000 cardiac investigations and procedures per year including 15,000 echocardiograms. You will be joining a team comprised of cardiac physiologists, administration, and support staff who work together to support a team of highly skilled, world-class cardiology consultants.
