Financial Resilience Officer Salary:
£35,235 - £41,511 per annum Contract:
Full Time - 37 hours (flexible working may be considered), Fixed Term - 6 months About the role:
East Devon District Council is committed to tackling poverty and this role plays an integral part in aiding the production of the Council's anti-poverty strategy. You will think outside the box to support people facing hardship and living in poverty, including accessing discretionary funding and working in partnership with organizations like Citizens Advice East Devon, Department for Works and Pensions, Housing Associations, food banks, and community groups. If you are passionate about addressing the root causes of poverty and motivated to build solutions for our residents long term, we want to hear from you. We offer a fantastic working environment in our purpose-built offices in Honiton, along with flexibility for homeworking. Working in a small but professional and dedicated team, you will have access to excellent benefits including generous annual leave, flexitime, access to a Local Government Pension Scheme, and salary sacrifice cycle scheme. Additionally, you will be encouraged to take advantage of learning and development opportunities. About you:
With a good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent), you will ideally have knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Council Tax, and debt recovery legislation, along with up-to-date knowledge of Housing, local and national policies. You should have the ability to review finances and budgets to help residents maximize income and minimize expenditure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with a wide range of people, explaining complex legislation clearly, and discussing difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. You must be a team player, self-motivated to organize and manage your workload, and possess problem-solving skills to find innovative solutions to issues facing our residents. A valid driving license and own car are essential (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act). About us:
Our recent Local Government Association Peer Challenge highlighted that EDDC is a great place to work, with engaged staff and members. You will be part of a Gold Investors in People (IiP) organization that collaborates with local people to create valuable services and an outstanding community, economy, and environment. With our wide range of health and wellbeing benefits, highly flexible hybrid working arrangements, and commitment to continuous learning and development, you can be confident of joining a dedicated community of colleagues who are Happy, Healthy, and Here.
