Position overview: Be an integral part of the EHS Department who ensure a safe working environment for all in line with legal requirements whilst promoting a culture of Health & Safety awareness. Support the Health & Safety Manager in managing site compliance with health & safety and environmental legislation. The support role combines office-based tasks with shop floor responsibilities (50:50). Reporting to the EHS Manager and working closely with the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic, this position is responsible for overseeing and assisting all functions within the Health & Safety Department. The role involves collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure employee safety, welfare, and legal compliance with UK regulations, as well as conformance with ISO standards. Additionally, there will be a requirement to assist with hands-on tasks across the production area, including the operation of mobile work equipment. Key responsibilities include: Oversee ad-hoc maintenance tasks i.e. ground maintenance activities, ad-hoc plumbing tasks, general building maintenance tasks, occasional painting & decorating, signage maintenance, floor painting & cleaning, barrier storage & maintenance. Conducting inspections such as ladder, racking, roller doors etc. Manage Spill Kits. PPE management – including Footwear and working with Suppliers. Audits such as fire door audits, weekly area audits/Gemba walks. Support EHS Manager with organisation of all Confined Spaces & Working at Heights Equipment, including MEWPS. Support Surveyors when attending site for Statutory Inspections (LOLER/LEV/PV). Support Pest Control & Legionella Inspections, water sampling and monitoring. Support EHS Manager with Risk Assessments, PUWER & COSHH Assessments, Incident Investigations, Near Miss/Hazard Reporting Logs. Support EHS Manager with External & Internal Audits including admin and ISO management systems. Support EHS Manager with Environmental compliance – (Environmental Permit/Consent to Discharge/Water Regulations). Support the Plant Management, Engineering and Production Teams with all EHS oriented tasks such as contractor controls, both embedded and external. Support Facilities Maintenance mechanic in ad-hoc tasks. Support with EHS training, including toolbox talks, JBS/SOP creation and training admin. Support & deliver site inductions to contractors, visitors and new employees. What are we looking for? Educated to HNC/HND Level 4 or equivalent preferable in a relevant discipline such as construction, manufacturing, engineering. Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH) beneficial. Previous Production & Engineering Experience. Previous Health & Safety Experience. Working knowledge of the following areas: Environmental Regulations and H&S requirements.
