EICA Project Engineer - Freelance - Worcestershire

Day Rate Negotiable - Will be Outside IR35 or CIS

We are currently seeking an EICA Project Engineer with expertise in electrical design and delivery to support the upcoming schemes for Severn Trent and potentially other clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (EICA) works and be flexible in their approach to work, as there are periods of downtime between design finalisation and EICA works commencement on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys to inform electrical design and ensure all project requirements are accurately captured. Supplier Liaison: Engage with package and equipment suppliers to gather necessary information for design and scope of works inquiries. Tendering & Procurement: Develop electrical tender packages and scopes of work, including the procurement of instrumentation and control equipment. TQ/RFI Management: In collaboration with the project team, manage incoming and outgoing Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) related to EICA works. Reviewing Documentation: Review supplier drawings and participate in tender reviews to ensure alignment with project requirements. FAT Testing: Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as necessary to ensure equipment meets specifications. Scope Deviation Management: Identify potential deviations from the agreed scope and promptly notify the project management and commercial teams. Planning & Scheduling: Plan upcoming electrical works, including any required shutdowns and client authorizations, ensuring alignment with the wider project program. Commissioning Plans: Contribute to the development of commissioning plans, with a focus on EICA systems. Commissioning & Check Sheets: Undertake commissioning tasks and assist with the population of commissioning check sheets for all relevant equipment. Installation Supervision: Provide supervision and oversight for electrical installation works on-site as required.

Qualifications: Ideally, candidates should have a STW-qualified SAP or experience as a SAP for another utility provider. However, this is not essential.

Qualifications & Skills: Proven experience in electrical design and delivery within an EICA project environment. Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, systems, and installations. Previous experience working in the utilities sector, particularly in water treatment or similar industries, would be advantageous. Ability to work flexibly, including during periods of downtime or when working part-time. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to travel to various site locations as required.
