An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and dedicated midwives to join our vibrant Maternity team at Newham University Hospital as a midwife specialising in the provision of care to women undergoing Elective Caesarean Sections (ELCS). The Elective Caesarean Section Pathway is undergoing a transformation as part of our wider improvement journey. We are seeking motivated, insightful midwives who want to have a say and be a part of an exciting new team. The majority of your role will involve the provision of direct clinical care for women undergoing ELCS; this will provide you with valuable insight into the care pathway. You will have opportunities to contribute to the evaluation and continuing improvement of the care we provide to women and their babies. Barts Health provides health and wellbeing opportunities for staff such as free dental care, eye tests, acupuncture, theatre tickets, mindfulness sessions, discount loyalty cards, organised holidays and on-site activities. These Band 6 posts are suitable for Registered Midwives with more than 12 months of post-qualification experience. This is a core post; however, there may be times where you will work in the obstetric-led Delivery Suite and other clinical areas to ensure the continued provision of safe maternity care throughout the Unit. The post holder will plan and actively participate in providing care for women who are booked for Elective Caesarean Sections and for women who have been awaiting Grade 3 caesarean section. They will work amongst the Multi-disciplinary team, with Obstetric consultants, registrars, Senior House Officers (SHO), Anaesthetists, ODPs, Midwives and Maternity care assistants to provide holistic and safe care for patients and their families. They will evaluate the outcomes of care and participate in working practices and guidelines to promote good practice, being mindful of the impact on other agencies and groups. Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers. The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients. Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together. We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
