Northampton, UK Req #279 02 January 2025 About the Role As Podiatrist (Senior) Offender Health, you will be required to undertake assessment and treatment of patients within HMP settings. This includes but is not limited to; determining a clinical diagnosis, agreeing with the patient the podiatric treatment plan, and maintaining records as an autonomous practitioner. ‘Totally seeks to improve healthcare outcomes for all through the delivery of exceptional health and wellbeing services.’ Your Day to Day Key Responsibilities: To manage own clinical caseload including the management of any waiting lists in partnership with the HMP site. To maintain professional standards. To comply with all PPH standards, policies and procedures. Clinical Responsibilities: To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care, ensuring a high standard of clinical care. To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, organizing this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and time management. To assess capacity, gain valid informed consent, and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with complex presentations, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualized management and treatment plans. To deliver a wide range of podiatric treatments including nail surgery, MSK/biomechanics, wound care, diabetes care, and routine care based on patient needs and agreed management plans. To provide advice and instruction to patients to facilitate and encourage appropriate self-care. To communicate effectively with patients and carers to ensure understanding of their conditions. To provide specialist advice, teaching, and training to other members of the MDT as required. Professional Responsibilities: To maintain your clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping up to date with new trends and developments, incorporating them into your work as necessary. To be an active member of the CPD training programme, attending and delivering presentations and training sessions, and participating in external courses and reflective practice. To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of a coordinated service. To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and Personal Development Plan (PDP). To undertake measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through Evidence Based Practice projects, audits, and outcome measures. To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply it to your work situation. To represent Premier Physical Healthcare externally regarding the podiatry service provided to patients. To promote understanding of the aims of Premier Physical Healthcare to relatives and carers as appropriate. To undertake any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the Senior Operations Manager. Organisational Responsibilities: To be responsible for your area of work, as agreed with the Senior Operations Manager, planning and organizing efficiently and effectively regarding patient management and time use. To decide priorities for patient management and ensure they remain in accordance with best clinical practice. To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out podiatric duties and adhere to company policy, ensuring competence in using equipment. To maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal and company requirements, communicating assessment and treatment results to appropriate bodies. To be actively involved in the monthly collection of appropriate data and statistics, including audits and outcome measures. To be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies required to improve the safety of your work area, including prompt recording and reporting of accidents and ensuring safe equipment use. To comply with company policies and procedures and be involved in reviewing and updating them as appropriate, following general professional guidelines and standards from the Royal College of Podiatry, the Health and Care Professions Council, and the Department of Health.
