About this position

We are looking for a Automation Technician to join a business based in Laindon, Essex in a purpose-built design, engineering and headquarters building with 55 employees at this site.

The majority of their business is the design and assembly of filling and packaging lines for aerosols with a high proportion for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

The basic equipment is made by the principal company in Switzerland. The company incorporates this and other machines into the lines, linking them with their own conveyors, enclosures, electrical control systems and ancillary equipment.

All panel building, wiring and PLC programming is done on site and other departments specialise in machine assembly, commissioning and documentation. Experience is always valued, although for this role, a firm grounding in control systems and PLC based control, would make an ideal candidate.

Job Responsibilities: Assisting with the ongoing drawing transition from AutoCAD to EPLAN, working with the rest of the Automation Department to agree on methods of working and drawing standards. Generating electrical drawings and panel Layouts, with supporting electrical documentation (Bill of Materials, Component Lists, Cable Schedules, Terminal Rail Layouts etc.). Ensure all electrical drawings are updated promptly throughout the lifecycle of the project and shared with all relevant departments. Maintain a database of preferred electrical devices to ensure consistency in functional hardware from project to project.

Experience Required: In-depth knowledge of EPLAN P8 and Pro Panel 3D is a necessity. Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g. apprenticeship). An EPLAN Certified Engineer (ECE) qualification. Familiarity with Automated production machinery or other similar capital equipment. Has worked in a project environment in cross-functional project teams.
