Velocity have partnered up with a leading M&E contractor who are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer based in Kent or nearby areas. The client provides managed mechanical and electrical services for the construction industry across the UK, with experience in multiple sectors from commercial, retail, and residential to defence and specialist projects.

The Role: As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the creation, development, and implementation of electrical systems for M&E projects. Key Responsibilities: Design comprehensive electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and communication networks. Conduct feasibility analyses, technical calculations, and energy efficiency evaluations. Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate electrical designs into overall project plans. Produce technical drawings and specifications using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms. Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., BS, IEC). Participate in project meetings, site inspections, and progress checks to resolve issues and track development. Assist in preparing project documentation, including tender submissions and design reports. Essential Qualifications and Skills: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Proven experience in electrical design for building services (at least 2 years preferred). Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent tools. In-depth knowledge of building services standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
