The role Your role will include providing support to the Senior Electrical Engineer(s) and TCA Manager in implementing all non-nuclear safety implicated (Non NSI) Electrical design requests for HMNB Clyde in line with NNSI TCA processes & policy. Responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining the design intent of all systems to ensure they are safe to operate from a design perspective whilst optimising the client’s investment. You will conduct Asset Surveying activities across NSI and NNSI equipment/buildings and infrastructure. Day to day you will Assist the Senior Electrical Engineer (TCA) and TCA Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the section’s resource. Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements. Implement the HMNB Clyde’s Company Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental policies in the Facility Design section ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices. Provide conceptual and detailed Electrical and Building Services Engineering designs across HMNB Clyde for Naval Base Projects, Facility Managers and in-house customers for all projects of value of
£25k value, the post holder will be setting brief/specification and conducting review/approval of 3rd party design and reporting into TCA for final endorsement of design. Support other Naval Base and Depot Organisations (FM’s, MOD DIO, NBP etc) with respect to reviewing and approving Design Proposals, Contract Specification Documents to ensure compatibility with Statutory, JSP and Depot Standards. Provide support on Base wide/Depot wide projects in accordance with programme requirements, directing and controlling design engineers in the design process of all conceptual and detailed designs. This role is full time 36 hours per week Monday to Friday and is based in Faslane. Essential experience of the Electrical Design Engineer Working knowledge of: High Voltage systems, including maintenance and procedures, Electrical Design, Electrical Systems and Equipment, Operational Documentation, Statutory and Regulatory requirements including DSEAR. Solid understanding of: CAD, COSHH, CDM, Building Control, Safe Systems of Work. Qualifications for the Electrical Design Engineer Recognised Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent. Confined Space Competent Person. Occasional Climber/Working at Heights. Emergency First Aid. 18th Edition - City and Guilds. City & Guilds 2396–01 Level 4 Award in Design & Verifications. City and Guilds 2395 Periodic Inspection Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations. Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
