Norwich, NR7 (NO remote or hybrid working) About the role: We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our systems engineering team as an Electrical Design Engineer. This role is to develop and design electrical/electronic design solutions to support the life cycle of the MSI-DS weapon system range. This role will involve working on analogue and digital hardware design, wiring design, and overall system integration. The successful candidate will collaborate with other teams to create cutting-edge designs that meet industry standards and customer requirements. You will primarily be working on analogue and digital hardware and wiring design and overall system integration. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your expertise in electrical design as you will mainly be involved in new design projects. Additionally, you may be required to support existing products and projects. Main Responsibilities: Design electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, and instrumentation. Create new and maintain legacy analogue and digital circuits, including components/parts selection and evaluation. Evaluate system requirements and identify the correct technical solutions. Generate test, interface, and supplier documentation. Support the test department in initial “first of class” (prototype) testing. Write reports, give presentations, and meet with customers and senior management. Ensure designs are completed on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality standards. Provide technical advice and support during the installation, testing, and commissioning phases of projects. Collaborate with other departments, including mechanical, software, and project management teams. Any other duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role. About the person: To be a successful candidate for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following attributes and skillsets: Qualifications / Education: HND or a degree in Electrical Engineering or demonstrable experience in a related engineering field. Technical Skills / Experience: Knowledge and experience of electrical design techniques relating to industrial wiring and general system interconnection. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Experience in the usage of common electrical test equipment for fault finding and prototype testing. Excellent technical report writing skills to support proposals by creating documents and compliance matrices. Ability to present technical information to audiences with all levels of technical experience. Experience with electrical design calculations and analysis. Personal Attributes / Person Specification: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across various departments. Knowledge of working to industry standards (e.g., Defence/Military standards). Experience of PCB layout packages.
