We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team and contribute to the design and development of specialized electrical systems for various marine applications.

Job Summary: As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering electrical systems and solutions for unique and complex marine projects.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to create innovative, efficient, and safe electrical systems that meet the specific requirements of the marine industry.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer looking to work on challenging projects in a niche and evolving organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical System Design:

Design electrical systems for marine vessels, offshore platforms, and other marine-related infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Project Development:

Lead electrical design aspects of niche marine projects from concept through to completion, including specification, integration, and installation support.

Design Calculations and Simulations:

Perform detailed electrical calculations, load assessments, and simulations to ensure system efficiency, safety, and reliability.

System Integration:

Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the larger marine project.

Technical Documentation:

Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, testing plans, and reports.

Compliance and Standards:

Ensure that all electrical designs meet relevant marine industry standards, such as IMO, IEC, and ABS, as well as international safety regulations.

Client Interaction:

Liaise with clients, suppliers, and contractors to define project requirements and address any technical concerns or modifications during the design and implementation phases.

Testing and Validation:

Support the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems onboard marine projects, ensuring all systems operate as designed.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry advancements and best practices in electrical design for marine environments and implement new technologies and methodologies where applicable.

Qualifications: Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably within the marine or offshore sectors.

Technical Expertise:

Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, control systems, and automation.

Software Proficiency:

Proficient in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, MATLAB, etc.) and simulation tools.

Standards Knowledge:

Familiarity with marine-specific regulations and standards such as IMO, IEC, ABS, and SOLAS.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt designs for challenging or unique marine environments.

Communication Skills:

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Attention to Detail:

High attention to detail and the ability to produce precise, high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Desired Attributes: Experience with offshore or subsea electrical systems.

Knowledge of renewable energy systems in marine projects.
