Outside Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Dorking. The role involves the design and specification of cable systems, control gear, building services equipment, and associated components for low-voltage (LV) power distribution, control, and instrumentation in fixed industrial installations. Responsibilities: Design and calculation of LV power cables per BS7671. Create block cable diagrams for power, control, and instrumentation. Specify power distribution, control equipment, earthing systems, and lightning protection. Verify protective device discrimination in LV systems. Size and route cable containment systems. Design and specify fire, intruder, and gas detection systems, as well as internal and external lighting, heating, and small power distribution for industrial plants. Accountabilities: Work individually or as part of a team depending on project size. Report to the Project Manager while collaborating with clients and site installation teams. Skills & Experience: Proficient in cable calculation software such as Trimble (Amtech) ProDesign. Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit and Dialux/Relux is advantageous. Ability to read P&IDs, MCC, and electrical panel schematic diagrams. Knowledge of PLCs, communications, and network cabling is beneficial. Experience with ATEX design per DSEAR is preferred (training can be provided).
