We are looking for an Electrically biased Maintenance Engineer (70% Electrical) to join a leading food manufacturing business in Barnsley. The hiring manager is looking for someone who has previous experience from within the Food Manufacturing, Food Packaging, or Packaging industry.

The shift pattern is 4 on 4 off (2 days and 2 nights) and the working hours are 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am. The starting salary for this role is A£45,000 per annum and this will rise to just over A£47,000 per annum once you've passed a 3 month probation.

The hiring manager is either looking for a time served Maintenance Engineer, or an Electrically biased Maintenance Engineer who has an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering as a minimum requirement. 17th or 18th Edition is preferred but not essential.

What You Will Do: Provide both reactive and planned maintenance across the site, including PLC controlled filling and packaging machinery and a range of automated manufacturing equipment. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring 100% external customer service level. Take ownership for the quality of repairs and maintenance carried out, ensuring production service levels are maintained. Diagnose faults, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure the maintenance schedule is adhered to. Provide daily breakdown reports and updates for engineering manager and production meetings. Promote a safe working environment, actively highlighting near misses and conducting daily Health & Safety checks.

What You Will Bring: Proven experience in Electrical/Mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of PLC controlled machinery and automated manufacturing equipment. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work effectively in a team, as well as independently, with minimal supervision. A commitment to maintaining high safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
