Responsibilities
Joint Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the electrical department, including resource planning and management, ensuring flow of materials and parts and daily troubleshooting.
Providing technical and first line management support to all members of the team.
Supporting the Department Manager with future planning and scheduling of tasks in accordance with boat build plans.
Providing regular feedback on build progress to Production Management.
Ensure tasks are installed to the issued drawings and Master Work List and installed to the correct standard of quality.
Proactively liaise with all departments to carry out work to required quality standards and timelines, especially the Design and Project Departments.
Attendance and contribution at Line Side meetings, noting critical activities and relevant actions for the team.
Responsible for health and safety and for communicating information back to the HSE Team.
Lead by example, showing our core values throughout your work.
Identify and implement continuous improvements for both the product and department.
Keep up to date with new technologies and boat build techniques.
Requirements
Knowledge
Previous Electrical biased background ideally within Marine manufacturing.
Knowledge of Basic Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
Skills
Ability to work with a wide range of people, from apprentices to clients and production management.
Excellent communication skills with stakeholders both internal and external ensuring compliance to our Oyster Values – Excellence – Passion – Integrity – Family.
Experience
Previous experience in the marine industry working with timber/GRP boats.
Previous experience of working in an Electrical production environment is essential.
Strong background in Marine Electrical or equivalent electrical skill set.
Experience of leading a team in a fast-paced, large scale production facility.
Commissioning of vessel electrical systems and fault-finding.
Proven track record of motivating and training others.
Experience of leading a team/department.
Strong working knowledge of luxury cruising yachts preferable Oyster’s product line.
Previous experience of working with Marine digital switching systems, e.g. CZone.
