The electrical contracting industry is part of the construction industry and therefore electricians are generally responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical services, both inside and outside buildings and structures such as houses, hospitals, schools, factories, and shops. Some of the things that an electrician will be expected to do are: Install, maintain and repair electrical services (e.g. lighting, sockets, fire alarms, emergency lighting & heating controls) Work indoors and outdoors and be prepared to sometimes work at height Work with little or no supervision; relying on their own initiative Be prepared to travel away from home Develop good working relationships with people Read both building and engineering drawings Understand wiring and circuit diagrams Select (within limits) materials and equipment Inspect and test electrical installations Diagnose and rectify faults on a range of circuits and equipment Write reports Most of our work is located in London on medium to large residential schemes, we would look to offer a full electrical apprenticeship which will include the below: 2nd fixing Containment systems Where you’ll work

Installation and maintenance electrician (level 3), equal to A level Course contents
Maintain the safety of self and others by applying statutory health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations when conducting electrical work. Comply with all relevant legislation including environmental regulations, codes of practice, and other relevant information and guidance when planning and performing electrical work in industrial, commercial, and residential environments. Identify and use personal protective equipment (PPE) that should be used when undertaking electrical work. Carry out work in a tidy and safe manner, including restoration of the work area on completion of work. Use verbal and written communication techniques suitable for the context, adapting style and use of terminology to suit the audience. Apply customer service principles and techniques to deliver customer or client service in industrial, commercial, and communal residential environments. Apply relevant legislation, Building Regulations, industry guidance notes, and the requirements of the current edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS7671) while carrying out work. Understand and apply the practices and procedures for planning and preparing to maintain electrotechnical systems and equipment. Apply and use necessary mathematical and scientific techniques, formulae, and calculations that underpin an electrician’s work. Use a range of tools, materials, equipment, and components relevant to performing electrical work. Design, plan, set up, and install electrical and related electronic systems including terminating and connecting cables in electrical wiring systems. Inspect and test new and existing electrical installations using test equipment. Apply diagnostic and problem-solving techniques to identify, assess and resolve electrical faults. Install and maintain electrical and electronic equipment and components, including connections for EV charge points, battery storage, solar and thermal panels, heating and cooling systems. Record work including the maintenance of work documentation and preparation of appropriate certification. Your training plan
