February 2025 onwards Our client, a well-renowned and highly-regarded international company specialising in the design and manufacture of large, high-quality safety handling equipment for nuclear power plants, is looking for some highly-skilled Electromechanical Commissioning and Maintenance Engineers to support the installation, commissioning and preventative and corrective maintenance services of 2 x large polar cranes they are supplying that will be used during the build and subsequent operation of the new Hinkley 'C' nuclear power station in Somerset. The Polar Cranes are heavy electromechanical rotating cranes, extensively used during the construction phase for handling activities into the reactor building. Later on, during operation outages, they are critical systems used for all the reactor building heavy lifting. The client is thus looking for an experienced engineer (ideally Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical biased), with a proven background and experience related to preventive and corrective maintenance (troubleshooting) of electromechanical systems, preferably for cranes and handling equipment, though experience with other similar equipment will be considered. Key Activities: Supervise the installation of Polar Cranes Participate in the subsequent commissioning of Polar Cranes Provide preventive and corrective maintenance (troubleshooting) services for Polar Cranes Apply rules related to Quality, Safety and Security in the Nuclear environment Qualifications and Experience: Qualifications and experience in electrotechnics and/or automation systems Proven experience in preventive maintenance of electromechanical systems, preferably for cranes and handling equipment Proven experience in corrective maintenance (troubleshooting) of electromechanical systems Ideally prior experience working on-site in support of a large, regulated industry construction project. In particular, previous experience as 'Cable Installation Chargehand (Blue Hat)' on the HPC would be highly advantageous. Salary and Benefits: For the right candidate, our client can offer a salary of up to £75,000/year (+ overtime equating to an additional c20%) as well as an excellent benefits package including 8% pension contribution, life and permanent health income insurance, and travel allowance (up to £1,200/month) or assistance with relocation expenses.
