Working as part of a team of Wireless Test Engineers, the Engineer (or Technician) will contribute to the provision of a wireless testing service undertaking RF (Radio Frequency), OTA (Over The Air) or SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) testing, on a large variety of wireless products, such as WLAN, Bluetooth, GSM, PMR radio and base stations as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: To perform RF certification testing in accordance with European and FCC specifications. Testing of wireless products to various international test standards. To assess products prior to testing and define test requirements resulting in a test plan. Recording test results using various electronic logbook systems and production of test reports, following company quality procedures. Help with the development of test methods and other departmental documentation. Work closely with customers during attended testing. Control and monitor the test equipment calibration status during testing. Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the test plan supplied by the manufacturer, or the quotation as applicable. Work in close liaison with the Project Manager to ensure work is carried out accurately and within the timescales allowed. Essential Criteria: Qualifications in either Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline. A practical aptitude. Good understanding of IT systems, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills with a high level of analytical and pattern recognition skills. Ability to deliver work independently, or as part of a team, to defined deadlines. Conscientious with good interpersonal skills and commercial awareness. An enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to be involved in continuous improvement activities. The ability to work closely and professionally with customers and the willingness to support ad-hoc flexible working to assist international clients outside of standard working hours. Desirable Criteria: Experience of RF testing in a test house environment. Use of RF test equipment such as spectrum/network analysers, signal generators, RF power meters etc. Experience in test automation using packages such as HPVEE, .net, and Labview. Use and understanding of radio performance standards such as ETSI and FCC test standards. Experience of audits.
