Electronics Engineer – Design and Verification within the RF

What You’ll Accomplish: Lead the testing of integrated RF circuits and/or subsystems as a primary duty. Design, build, and test electronics solutions using your skills in analogue, digital circuit design, and RF along with industry-standard CAD packages and test equipment. Write the documentation for RF and microwave circuits and verification tests. Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas. Maintain multidisciplinary collaboration and work towards a common goal with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists. Play a key role in building test systems for quantum computers. Maintain UQ’s position of using state-of-the-art RF and electronics solutions. Assist in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues. Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements. Help with fast turn-around, proof of concepts, and feasibility discussions. Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers. The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates: Electronics and/or RF design experience (VHF – X-band). Hands-on experience working on complex RF systems from concept through delivery. PCB schematic and layout experience using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge, and excellent verification/debugging skills using electronics test equipment. Must-have Skills: Minimum 5 years of practical/hands-on experience in electronics support for MW/RF (VHF – X-band) design. Experience developing and executing test plans and approaches on complex RF systems. Analogue design experience. PCB design experience (VHF-X-band). Experience with low-noise design approaches and techniques. Experience working with suppliers and contractors. Demonstrated strong discipline for thorough documentation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team player. At least a 2.1 BEng/BSc degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline. Nice-to-have Skills: A background in RF engineering, Research, Metrology, and instrumentation. Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital, and EMC. Experience with C and/or scripting languages (e.g., Python and Matlab). Experience with LabVIEW.
