As a SECAmb 999 Emergency Call Handler, you will be responsible for obtaining accurate information from callers, offering advice or reassurance, and entering details into a computer system to categorize the seriousness of their condition. This ensures the patient receives the most appropriate care, which may include emergency ambulance response, clinician assessment, or self-care advice. We provide full training in a supportive environment in our Emergency Call Centres: 9 weeks full-time training Mandatory attendance due to obtaining your Pathways licence 3 weeks of classroom training followed by 6 weeks of mentoring Working for our organisation

This role involves working a varied shift pattern, including earlies, lates, nights, and weekends. Fixed rotas ensure safe patient provision. Night-only shifts can also be accommodated. What we can offer you:

As an Emergency 999 Call Handler, you will assist callers in various situations, from minor illnesses to life-threatening emergencies, using the NHS Pathways system. This role requires high levels of personal commitment, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Demonstrate personal commitment to patient-focused service Ability to work well in a team and independently Fast and accurate typing skills Good standard of education or equivalent experience Person specification

Qualifications

GCSE or Functional Skills level in Maths, English, and ICT skills OR evidence of using Maths and English to GCSE level or higher Level 2 in Customer Service or Health and Social Care Experience

Experience working with the public Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport Experience in a computer-based role Teamwork experience Successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
