Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features. We’re looking for a solicitor to join our employment law team, working from our Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Inverness office. THE ROLE Join our Chambers UK 2025 and Legal 500-ranked employment team, focusing on employer-based matters. You’ll advise clients on a range of employment law issues and represent them in employment tribunals. Responsibilities include: Advising on the employment aspects of transactions, such as corporate and outsourcing projects. Handling day-to-day employment queries, including disciplinary and grievance matters. Managing collective matters, such as redundancies, integration, and TUPE. Advising on trade union matters. Representing clients in tribunal litigation. Managing your own caseload and assisting with complex cases with team support. Delivering high-quality client care. Handling both contentious and non-contentious employment matters for employers and employees. Working with clients in person and remotely, attending tribunals and court when required. Participating in business development activities. Ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, including client verification. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE To meet the demands of this role, you’ll ideally have at least four years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in Employment Law. You should have a strong track record of advising clients and representing them in employment tribunals. You’ll be able to demonstrate: The ability to identify key issues and conduct effective legal merits assessments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A team-focused approach, with the ability to work independently. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask. Attention to detail, particularly when working with figures. Confidence in making timely, well-considered decisions. Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Word) and ideally familiarity with case management systems. Commercial awareness and the ability to assess risks effectively. Your experience should include managing a caseload that covers: Constructive, unfair, and wrongful dismissal cases. Sickness absence issues. Discrimination and whistleblowing claims.
