Are you an Employment Specialist looking to make a difference in people's lives? Do you wish to help people who are under our Secondary Mental Health Services get back into paid employment? If so, you're in luck! Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity to join our Step On team, based in South Staffordshire. The specific work base will be either Stafford or Lichfield depending on the successful applicant's preferred location. This role will specifically support our new Adult ADHD & Autism pathway. You will have a critical role in providing specialist employment-related support to vulnerable people with ADHD/ASD. You will work with individuals with complex mental health needs and help them live independently and remain or get back to employment. Main duties of the job

Effectively manage a caseload of people in receipt of mental health services, facilitating individuals to focus on retaining employment and/or engage in Higher Education. Communicate effectively with clients, giving empathy when disclosing sensitive or contentious information, providing reassurance, training, and motivation to overcome barriers. Work directly with mainstream employers to secure employment opportunities for service users while providing ongoing support according to needs. Working for our organisation

What you will be doing: Effectively manage a caseload of twenty people in receipt of secondary mental health services, facilitating individuals to gain and retain paid employment and/or engage in Higher Education. Receive complex and sensitive information in the form of referrals from Care Coordinators, meeting regularly with Case Managers to coordinate and integrate vocational services into mental health treatment. Communicate effectively with clients, giving empathy when disclosing sensitive or contentious information, providing reassurance, training, and motivation to overcome barriers. Understand a range of work procedures and practices following the Centre for Mental Health’s intensive IPS Training course, Motivational Interviewing training, and benefits advice programme. Educated or relevant work experience to degree level or equivalent. Specific knowledge or relevant experience in delivering Employment Support. Knowledge of the needs of the client group around reasonable adjustments in the workplace. Experience

Significant experience working with people who have ADHD and/or Autism. An understanding of the employment needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health problems. Experience helping people to obtain or keep education/work. Experience and knowledge of welfare benefits and all disability/employment-related benefits. Skills & Knowledge

Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage service users and their families/friends. Good facilitation skills. Basic counselling skills. An ability to work independently, reliably, and consistently. Employer certification / accreditation badges

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties, and as such, this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020.
