Description We are seeking talented Endoscopy Nurses to join our multidisciplinary team!

The Person Previous experience of providing excellent nursing care, registered with NMC, have knowledge of GI diagnosis, treatment, health education and JAG requirements, and work as the clinical expert during a patient's diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedure, providing full technical assistance. Empathetic to patients and a passionate, self-motivated individual who can demonstrate our TRUST company values and are committed to making a difference to people’s lives.

The Role To assist the consultant in the day-to-day operation of Endoscopy clinics. To organise the setup of each clinic ensuring everything is prepared prior to the clinic date, manage, record and process patient’s personal data. To support the patient throughout their care journey.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Activities:

Prepare an endoscopy suite for procedures in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for specific procedures, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum. Ensure the Patient Record is completed in a timely and accurate way. Participate in teaching within your sphere of knowledge and skill. Run an endoscopy list without supervision and supervise/mentor junior staff (subject to experience). Compliance:

Comply with DMC Healthcare policies/procedures and in particular, issues relating to Health and Safety, COSHH, Incidents Reporting and the Data Protection Act. Report all accidents and untoward incidents to senior staff and complete electronic reporting system. Ensure that all elements contained within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct are adhered to and ensure that you maintain registration requirements. To ensure that Clinical Governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice. Provide and receive patient information, ensuring that all patient information is provided, received and recorded in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Patient Care:

Deliver patient care in accordance with recognised standards of research based clinical practice. By precept and example, to ensure that the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the patient are protected at all times. Understand and apply a holistic patient centred care approach, identifying and taking into account specialist clinical needs whilst the patient is in the Endoscopy Department. General:

Organise own time and be responsible for appropriate delegation of staff and duties. Maintain effective channels of communication at all times. Carry out any other duty that reasonably falls within the general nature and level of responsibility.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential: Qualification and training

Registered Nurse NMC Registration Currently practicing in Endoscopy

Experience

Minimum one year experience as an Endoscopy Registered Nurse. Previous experience as an RGN within an Endoscopy environment or have transferable skills.

Knowledge and Technical Ability

High standard of clinical practice competent across a range of clinical skills supported by professional competence and knowledge. Ability to undertake a range of diagnostic endoscopy procedures. Ability to undertake a range of Therapeutic endoscopy skills. Able to use evidence based practice to provide high standards of care. Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission.

Other

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals. IT literate and a competent user of the MS Office suite of products. Able to demonstrate an understanding of health policy and professional health agendas. Able to deal effectively with challenging situations and challenging individuals. Able to gain the confidence of colleagues and peers. Capable and confident, with the ability to work on own initiative. Excellent organisational skills. Able to work to tight deadlines. Flexible approach to work and working patterns.

Desirable: Experience

Previous experience working in the private healthcare sector.

Knowledge and Technical Ability

Show awareness of Endoscopy Speciality. Ability to recover patients safely post endoscopy procedure.
