The Trading and Risk Management team are part of Amber’s Net Zero Energy Management division. The team is responsible for optimising energy costs for Amber’s clients, by trading in the gas and electricity markets. This is achieved through world-class market intelligence, analytics, and effective risk management techniques. The team provides strategic support to other internal and external shareholders via regular reporting around the energy market. This role is your chance to join Amber’s Trading and Risk Management function as it expands its services and supports its customers in sustainably reaching Net Zero.

What will you be doing?

Ownership and production of core start-of-day tasks to ensure market information and risk alerts are correctly represented to the wider business and client base. Production of client and market position reports to send to required representatives. Analysing market movements and maintaining market tracking procedures. Effective communication within Trading & Risk Management to inform decision making processes for trading. Ensuring all trades are completely and accurately added into the Risk Management systems in a timely manner. Managing the additions/removals within the traders’ portfolios. Supporting the production of analysis for the trading desk and senior management when required. Updating of regular systems and spreadsheets. General upkeep of process guides relating to relevant tasks as processes evolve. Undertake the collation of information from various reputable sources.

What does good look like?

Strong understanding of the UK energy markets and cross commodity drivers, including energy regulation and legislation. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills - both written and verbal. Highly numerate with sound mathematical aptitude, analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail. Organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment with an excellent work ethic and individual accountability. A self-motivated starter and a team player, who is persuasive, logical, able to influence others positively, who likes to get the job done accurately first time. Confidence to action/challenge purchasing decisions. Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel. Excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complex topics.
