As the
Engineering and Technical Manager , you will be responsible for establishing, controlling, and maintaining the production standards of operation, including welding technology, processing reliability, and equipment performance. Your role will also involve providing leadership in process innovation and development.
You will ensure that production standards are established and maintained for welding technology, process reliability, and equipment standard times. Your focus will be on reducing the cost of poor quality (COPQ) through continuous improvement principles. You will oversee production engineering requirements at a project level, ensuring work instructions, process drawings, and tooling designs are provided. Additionally, you will be committed to research, development, and innovation to stay competitive and enhance operational efficiency.
Safety
will be a key priority in your role, ensuring that working processes and product handling are carried out safely. You will collaborate closely with the production team to maintain operational standards and controls. You will lead a team of production and welding engineers, guiding them through change programs and encouraging them to embrace change as a key driver of success.
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining efficient working procedures and identifying opportunities for improvement in engineering tools and methodologies. You will approve engineering documentation as necessary and assess new tenders and bids to identify future investment needs, including tooling and process improvements.
Qualifications: You should hold a bachelor's degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline. Knowledgeable in continuous improvement tools such as PDCA, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, 5 Whys, and APQP4Wind. Demonstrate leadership skills in production engineering, with experience in welding, fabrication, and machining environments. A passion for developing engineering talent and an innovative approach to engineering execution. Membership (or Fellowship) in a recognized professional institution is preferred. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
