On completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will have the skills necessary to become an EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems) production technician. Further progression may be available upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Your Responsibilities Will Include: Assist in the setup and operation of equipment for cable harness and electro-mechanical assembly production. Participate in structured training programs to learn essential production techniques and procedures. Manufacture assemblies using a range of tools in accordance with IPC-620 acceptance standards. Assist in the assembly, soldering, wiring, and testing of electronic components and systems. Perform visual inspection and electrical testing on a range of assemblies in accordance with industry standards. Maintain accurate records of production activities, test results, and quality checks. Identify and resolve issues with cable harness and electro-mechanical assemblies. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work area. Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and quality standards.
Engineering Technician Level 3 (A Level) Apprenticeship Standard: All apprentices will be required to achieve as a minimum: Level 2 Foundation competence qualification (Practical units broad-based skills). Level 3 Development Competence qualification (Practical work-based units). Level 3 Development technical knowledge qualification (Theory-based units broad-based knowledge). Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this prior to taking EPA.
End Point Assessment: Portfolio Based Occupational Competence Interview (Viva). A nominated professional Institution (PEI) undertakes the independent assessment to determine if the apprentice has met the EngTech requirements as defined by the UK-SPEC.
