As an Engineering Manager at Trustpilot, your responsibility will be to direct a fresh team tasked with data governance, adherence to compliance standards, safeguarding security, and improving the handling of data within the organization. Your leadership will be key in aligning our data processes with both technical best practices and regulatory requirements. Your technical expertise and leadership will shape the future of data at Trustpilot.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Guide, coach, and motivate a collective of engineers to establish a collaborative and peak-efficiency atmosphere.
  • Drive the team’s technical vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Own the delivery process, ensuring initiatives are implemented on time and to the highest standards of quality and security.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, removing roadblocks and accelerating innovation in how we handle and secure our data.
  • Support career growth for your team, creating pathways for learning and development, and providing regular feedback.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Security, and Product teams to ensure data practices align with industry regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Facilitate the integration of best practices in data governance, security, and compliance, providing engineers with the resources to incorporate these standards into their workflows.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of data tagging, classification, and retention policies to maintain data accountability and transparency.
  • Partner with other engineering and product leaders to shape Trustpilot’s overall data strategy while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Encourage a culture of data ownership enterprise-wide, offering assistance to ensure that every team follows the established governance and security guidelines.

Who you are:

  • Experience managing and leading software engineering teams.
  • Proficient background in software engineering or data engineering.
  • Solid grasp of engineering concepts, accompanied by an eagerness to acquire knowledge and collaborate within areas related to data governance, compliance, and regulatory standards, such as GDPR and CCPA, regardless of previous experience in these fields.
  • Utilizing adept communication and engagement with all involved parties, this individual transforms elaborate technical and regulatory obstacles into tangible milestones.
  • An enthusiasm for building teams and coaching engineers to grow in their careers, whether from a data or software background.
