The role As a Design Authority, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll support the provision of new facilities and capabilities, as well as the operation of those already existing.
Day-to-day, you'll manage the Design Authority team (eight direct reports) in support of the provision of a new out-of-water submarine maintenance facility.
Key Responsibilities: Definition of the design intent and provision of the basis of design. Oversight and acceptance of design and safety artefacts and configuration to form the reference design. Approval for manufacture, build, installation, commissioning, operation (including concessions), maintenance, modification, and decommissioning of facilities, assets, and operations, including the provision of the basis of operations. Principal Designer for Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and Building Safety Act purposes. This role is full time, 35 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days (ideally more) in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential Experience:
Significant experience in design management within large-scale multidisciplinary projects. Experience in the civil or military UK nuclear industry is highly desirable. Knowledge of submarines or dockyard experience is desirable. Qualifications:
Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and have significant relevant knowledge and experience; you'll also be registered as a Chartered Engineer and likely a Fellow of your institute. Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
