Engineering Manager

will assume total responsibility for all technical engineering activities within the company. Job Purpose:

An integral and key responsibility of this role is to ensure the continuous improvement of manufacturing techniques via design and process management to ensure a quality product is produced in a cost-effective manner. You will assume full responsibility for implementing and continually driving the company forward in terms of its manufacturing effectiveness and establishing a culture of high-quality manufacturing. Exciting opportunities for the future, as the Company continues to grow and improve Free parking on site MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the guiding & management of a team of engineers (6) Implement best practice procedures and roll through necessary instruction to engineering team leads and operatives Develop and drive strategic engineering initiatives in conjunction with the senior management team in order to assist in the fulfillment of company objectives. Work closely with the Production and Operations team to develop a total preventative maintenance strategy where possible. Proactively drive continuous improvement techniques to improve product performance, compliance and efficiency. Identify Training & Development strategies. Analyse existing practices & systems plus ways to develop them. Plan and ensure the successful execution of engineering special projects in line with engineering strategy and objectives. To promote and comply with legislative and business compliance standards including health & safety, environmental, and technical. Preparation of design packs for production (using AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks) Specification of parts and confirmation of suppliers Driving cost reduction through design. Ensuring the accurate preparation of quotations for customer inquiries. Ensuring the accuracy of engineering drawings Promoting a culture of continuous improvement through management of continuous improvement and root cause analysis Provide a high level of technical support for production and manufacturing team Ensuring the timely investigation of warranty issues and reaching resolutions PERSON SPECIFICATION: 3rd level mechanical / manufacturing or quality engineering qualification A minimum of five years’ experience working as an Engineering Manager & control in an engineering manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of special processes (e.g. welding, painting) including WPS. Demonstrable experience in using value-added quality principles and facilitating improvement Working knowledge of QC tools. Previous experience working in line with ISO 9001 (2015) or a strong understanding of the principles of ISO standards. Understanding of Kaizen and lean manufacturing tools and techniques is an advantage. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Excellent people skills.
