is a dynamic and innovative green hydrogen project developer. GCH focuses on the deployment of electrolytic hydrogen projects as a key part of the global energy transition and decarbonisation strategy. The business works closely with sister companies through the planning, permitting/licensing, engineering and design, and construction of green hydrogen projects. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee the design, engineering, and implementation of green hydrogen production, including water purification, compression, storage, dispensing, and processing technologies (e.g., ammonia and e-fuels). This role is best suited to an experienced leader with a strong interest in mentoring a growing multi-disciplinary engineering team. The role will enable the candidate to leverage their knowledge and technical expertise through all phases of project delivery. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this role requires a strategic and hands-on approach to ensure the successful execution of projects while maintaining high engineering standards and fostering innovation. Key responsibilities will include:

Provide leadership and accountability for the end-to-end design, engineering, and implementation of green hydrogen projects. Grow, develop and mentor the engineering team to align with business expansion and project demands. Ensure team members are well supported and professional growth is encouraged. Support project management with risk management, budgeting and scheduling for engineering projects to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. Ensure effective cross-departmental communication, integrating engineering efforts with company-wide strategies. Develop and maintain technical specifications, test plans, and engineering documentation. Build and maintain strong relationships with technical partners and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment with business goals. Develop and execute an engineering roadmap for the engineering team, aligned with long-term business objectives, following industry best practices. The ideal Candidate must have:

7+ years of professional experience, out of which 3+ years must be in a relevant Engineering Management capacity. Experience with engineering management of a multidisciplinary team from a transferable industry or sector, such as industrial gases, renewable energy, etc. Exceptional soft skills with the ability to mentor team members and manage internal and external stakeholders effectively. Registration as a Chartered Engineer with a relevant professional body. Strong technical ability in plant design, system interfacing, and critical review/certification of engineering and safety milestones (e.g., hazard studies, design reviews, zoning, equipment acceptance). Proven experience delivering projects with CAPEX ≥ £10m from Pre-FEED to operation. A high level of computer literacy, including Microsoft packages (word, excel, project, etc). Experience working with, and managing, a diverse range of technical stakeholders. The right to work in the United Kingdom, full-time, in perpetuity. The Candidate would benefit from:

Hands-on experience with industrial hydrogen systems, particularly electrolytic hydrogen, or expertise in high-pressure gas plant design and operation. Extensive experience working alongside and implementing safety management and fostering a safety-conscious culture. Familiarity with procuring large capital items and vendor management.
