Role Purpose

This role is an opportunity to lead and inspire a dynamic technical team through transformative change, cultivate an inclusive culture, unleash innovative best practices for peak efficiency, and ignite clear communication. What you will be doing?

Things move fast at nudge, and we are always learning. This means we need to stay agile, meaning the responsibilities of a role are never set in stone.

  1. Lead and motivate the team through change with empathy and resilience.
  2. Engage in active listening with both team members and stakeholders, making sure concerns and ideas are heard, and foster an inclusive decision-making process.
  3. Shape culture and processes.
  4. Implement best practices and methodologies to improve efficiency and productivity within the team.
  5. Manage and mentor a team of developers, quality engineers, and IT support professionals.
  6. Provide guidance, training, and career development opportunities, aligned with the roadmap and business objectives.
  7. Recognize the unique challenges and pressures faced by technical roles; offer support, flexibility, and understanding to manage stress and work-life balance.
  8. Model adaptability in the face of uncertainty and help the team embrace change positively.
  9. Continuously recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements.
  10. Create an environment where contributions are valued, and the team feels a sense of pride and ownership.
  11. Act as a liaison between team members. Facilitate clear communication to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations through ceremonies like retrospectives.
  12. Monitor team performance, set goals, and provide regular feedback.
  13. Conduct performance reviews and handle personnel matters - in conjunction with the head of departments and CTO.

Skills and experience

To help you do all this, you will need:

  1. 5+ years of experience in a technical management role (software development, IT, etc.).
  2. High levels of emotional intelligence.
  3. Proven track record in managing and motivating technical teams, with excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  5. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, and project management tools such as Jira.
  6. Ability to work effectively in diverse teams, with sensitivity to cultural and interpersonal differences.
  7. Flexible and adaptable in dynamic environments, with a willingness to embrace change and lead the team through transitions.
