Engineering Manager
- Permanent Role - based in Portsmouth. V3 are working on behalf of a family-run Engineering business based in central Portsmouth. We are looking for an experienced Manager to oversee and manage Engineering projects from start to finish. These are mainly Marine projects but also include structural steel. The successful candidate will: Supervise jobs for welders, fabricators, and machinists. Arrange staff to site to complete the work. Handle quotations, drawings, purchase ordering, overseeing jobs in progress, and quality inspection. Maintain levels of stock - metal and welding consumables, PPE, machine/equipment maintenance, and general health and safety. Read, understand, and break down engineering drawings. Oversee large projects from the initial tendering and quoting stage to design consultation and managing the whole project from start to finish. Estimate and quote for work. Answer customer enquiries by phone, email, and face to face. Be proficient with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and BS EN 1090. Work to high health and safety standards (CHAS, ConstructionLine, SafeContractor). Exhibit IT competence (Excel, Word, data entry, Outlook as a basic; Project Manager and CAD advantageous). Demonstrate strong leadership and multitasking abilities. Attend meetings with high-profile clients. Be a proactive and driven individual. Assist the Engineering Manager with sourcing new work/projects and the tendering process. Hold a valid driving licence. Other advantageous skills but not essential: Welding inspection/competence or RWC qualification. SMSTS qualification. Project Management experience. Crane and Forklift operator.
