Responsibilities

As a key part of the site management team of BYK UK, the role reports to the Site Operations Manager. This site-based position is responsible for leading and shaping site engineering to meet production, maintenance and CAPEX objectives whilst providing support to other site functions and liaising with external stakeholders where accomplished stakeholder management skills is a must. This role demands professional engineering management capabilities, strong leadership and team management skills. It involves making decisions and the ability to understand complex situations, simplifying and shaping solutions providing clarity to others. This role will initially focus on a critical evaluation of the status quo, developing and delivering a cost-effective and efficient maintenance strategy fit for now and in the future. Role modelling behaviours from the front, the Engineering Manager will drive the highest standards of environment, health & safety and quality standards ensuring compliance and legal obligations are met. Ensuring compliance with company policies & procedures and a focus on continuous improvement, training and innovation to align with site objectives is also a key part of this role. Requirements

Key Responsibilities: Development and delivery of the current and future site engineering maintenance strategy including Facilities management Highest standards of environment, health & safety and quality, ensuring compliance, robust change management and legal obligations Lead the engineering team to meet maintenance and CAPEX objectives whilst providing support to other site functions and achieving site performance standards Drive continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency, achieving right first time KPIs. Oversee asset maintenance and development with a key focus on preventative maintenance definition, execution and condition monitoring to ensure the necessary asset availability for completion of the production schedule Implement maintenance strategies and Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA) to provide the foundations for the necessary focus across the different plant areas, subject to regular review in light of changing business circumstances. Management of minor and maintenance projects liaising closely with stakeholders Delivering budget in terms of OPEX and CAPEX, understanding variances and delivery of forecast and LRP process in area of responsibility In conjunction with the Senior Management Team, define and manage organisational processes and improvements ensuring roles, responsibilities and expectations are understood whilst ensuring a robust succession and training plan is in place Provide mentoring and identify professional development opportunities for the team. Promote Altana values and Leadership principles across the site Required / Essential Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline e.g. Electrical or Mechanical. Proven senior Engineering Management experience, gained in a fast paced, regulated manufacturing environment Experience of successfully managing significant change/transformation projects within a manufacturing environment Experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen etc. Knowledge of maintenance strategy and FMEA routine development and review Familiarity with routine condition monitoring and alignment activity as part of the maintenance baseline function. Detailed knowledge of H&S Systems including Permit to Work, Management of Change, Risk Assessment and delivering compliance Knowledge and experience of budget preparation and control Development of asset improvement plans and associated capital expenditure proposals. A self-starter with proactive, positive leadership and employee engagement skills to create a positive & fulfilling work environment and ensure alignment with the safety culture throughout the organization Assertive problem-solver able to identify gaps and define effective solutions Analytical and structured approach Attention to detail and challenging by nature. Strong decision maker and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office. Knowledgeable on data generation, visibility and promotion of digitalisation Desirable qualifications and experience Knowledge of SAP Experience of layered auditing and reporting.
