Salary Competitive Fancy leading a team of engineers who maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles, as well as managing plant and buildings? What if you could develop your engineering team to enhance their skills, passing on all your technical knowledge to both experienced technicians and eager-to-learn apprentices alike? Well, if that sounds interesting, we’re looking for an experienced engineer to join and lead our engineering team at our Lillyhall depot near Workington in Cumbria. You’ll be leading a team of 34 professionals who are pretty nifty with a spanner, a mop and a paint brush – all of which are equally as important. Let’s face it, none of our customers want a dirty bus that works, or a clean and smart one that doesn’t! You’ll love having the responsibility of supporting, advising and managing the team on a daily basis to maintain and repair our Lillyhall based fleet of 82 buses, where you’ll also have the opportunity to manage our buildings and plant equipment. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll trust you to ensure vehicles are presented to the high standards that our customers want – and thus you’ll have autonomy over resource management, stock and people. That means you’ll be getting stuck into ordering, managing inventory, recruiting, training, and health & safety…so variety will be aplenty! And it goes without saying we’ll give you support, training and development wherever you need to be a brilliant Engineering Manager. Perhaps you’re happy sticking at Engineering Manager level and that’s fine by us, but if you do want to progress, we’ll support you every step of the way. Next stop on the career ladder is Engineering Director – one of the most senior roles in our business. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our Engineering Director gaining exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. People management won’t be completely new to you. You don’t have to be an existing engineering manager, but you’ll need to be able to evidence how you’ve managed teams, irrespective of their size.
