We are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Officer who will be part of the Engineering and Surveying Team. You will be an experienced engineer and will have a key role, acting as the Council's lead on civil engineering matters such as land drainage and car parks (including multi-storey). The Engineering Officer will be part of the Council's Engineering and Surveying Team managing the Council's assets to ensure they are inspected and maintained to a high standard. The role centers around maintaining the Council's diverse assets and ensuring they are kept to a high standard. It will be necessary for you to do the following: Inspect and record defects Write up specifications for maintenance and capital works Raise orders and manage contractors on site Prepare, authorise and pay as required contractual payment certificates Procure and manage the Council's General Maintenance (Civil Engineering) repairs contract Provide engineering advice and support to other Service Units as required In addition, you must have use of a vehicle and have a valid driving licence. Recent and relevant experience of the following: Inspecting and drawing up specifications for minor civil engineering works Managing the delivery of minor civil engineering works contracts up to the value of £1m Experience of working on or close to highways (Chapter 8) Land Drainage Working knowledge of AutoCAD You must have the following qualifications: A degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) Full membership or working towards Institute Chartered Engineers For an informal discussion about this role please contact Glenn Hooper on 024 76376314 or via email glenn.hooper@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk.
